Health People, Healthy North
Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS) Program

Since September 2016, a universal hearing screening program (UNHS) for all Manitoba newborns has been available in the Northern Health Region.  This service is provided to all newborns, up to six (6) months old, born in the Northern Health Region.

Through this screening, UNHS wants to identify all babies born with a hearing loss as soon as possible and to help those babies with hearing losses and their families connect to services and supports that can help all children reach their full potential.

If your newborn is 6 months of age or younger and has not been tested, please contact the Newborn Hearing screener in your area to make arrangements for this important test.
